BALTIMORE, MD (WFLA) - A Baltimore County native has appealed against his native title ruling.

Ethan Gebbia, 26, says he's never had any trouble to settle a dispute about who owned the land he and his mother own.

But he was surprised to discover the native title ruling has been challenged.

When Gebbia and his mother took over ownership of a 1,100 acre parcel in January of 2010, they say they weren't expecting their property to get all that much attention.

"I think I thought we wouldn't go above 30 acres," says Gebbia. "It's all that's left and I thought, well, okay, we're going to get away with it."

But now, Gebbia is appealing to the federal government to throw out that ruling. Gebbia says the land owner never made good on agreements he made and that the land has been lost to him.

His native title lawsuit claims the native title ruling was based on flawed math that shows the family sold the land on a high profit basis.

"The native title was never valid," says Gebbia.

The Gebbia family's attorney says the land belongs to them, but the title was never updated with all of their facts.

Gebbia's attorney says he thinks that if the case has merit, he won't be arguing it in court.

"I think if they don't want to listen and go to court, they should just let the judge rule," says lawyer Joseph Leventhal.

A jury can determine whether the native title has been valid.

Armed robber still at large is in custody after officers caught him holding a shotgun, police said.

It happened at a home in the 9600 block of East 42nd Street about 1:30 p.m.

A neighbor called 9600 blocks of East 52nd Street to report hearing an "air gun" in the house. The caller told police the sound was "like gunfire" and a man was armed with a shotgun.

A passer-by then saw the suspect standing on the porch of the house, police said.

At one point, the homeowner ran out of the home, but the suspect caught up to him and pulled out a shotgun, police said.

The homeowner then went outside to check on the shotgun, but he wasn't home when the suspect ran back inside, police said.

Officers later caught up to him and brought him to the police station, where he was taken into custody without incident.

A handgun was found on the porch, police said.
