Police say the 31-year-old man allegedly used a taser on Asefa Ali, 27.

Ali had refused treatment for abdominal pain after her stomach closed after a botched gastric bypass.

He has been charged with assault with intent to commit homicide.

He has been remanded in custody while police carry out their investigations.
